Welder Assessment Course:
As welding is a highly skilled trade, the first step in assessing an individuals welding ability is to take a ½ day session assessment – this will asses the individuals skill level and what level of qualification the applicant wishes to obtain & the amount of time it will take to qualify.
After the assessment, the applicant will be expected to solely undertake practical welding exercises – any weak areas will be highlighted and addressed in the training programme.
This ½ day welding assessment course is aimed at both trades people who are new to welding & non-trades people who wish to obtain practical welding skills. Upon completion, attendees will be skilled to perform basic welding, manage equipment to a required standard and have an understanding of safety in welding.
Course Contents:
- Managing welding equipment safely and understanding procedures
- Selecting the appropriate equipment for each welding role
- Setting-up & stripping down welding machinery
- Managing practical welding exercises
Welder Training & Testing:
As you'd expect, progressing through the welding course is dependent on the individual's ability – the modules listed below are for someone who is new to welding and wants to reach a coded standard.
- Induction in safe working practices and Electrical safety
- Setting-up & stripping down welding machinery
- Preparation measurement and marking materials for welding
- Practical welding techniques in chosen processes - Oxy Acetylene, MIG/MAG, MMA, TIG, Brazing etc…
- Joint welding techniques, in welding positions to requirements
- Examining, testing and diagnosing weld faults, using destructive and non-destructive methods
- Correcting and repairing weld faults
- Certified Code Welding Test, to a chosen standard; BS 4872, BS EN 287 / 288, ASMEIX etc
Qualifications:
The range of welding courses on offer, align themselves to the Weldability-Sif Foundation and the TWI Intermediate to Advanced Level Welding programme. The qualifications give the individual a detailed grounding in the welding principles needed and technologies - which will result in a number of valuable qualifications;
- Award in Introductory OA Welding Skills (QCF)
